Peter Yurievich Sobolev

Was born in Leningrad, USSR on October 1973, in family of an engineers.

In 1980-1990 studied in secondary school N119 of Kalininsky district of Leningrad.

Began studying of computers and programming on Commodore 64/128, PC XT/AT.

In 1990-1991 worked in IFMO (Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics) as a laboratory assistant at Computer Engineering department.

Computer networks: Fidonet since 1992 (node since 1993), Internet since 1993.

System programming and programming concerned with computer graphics and sound (Assembler 6502/x86, Pascal, C).

Since 1991 till 1997 was studying in IFMO, Faculty of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering. Graduated as an engineer-electrician, instrument-making speciality (precision devices of mechatronics).
Completed the navy courses of the same university (lieutenant in reserve).

One of graduation thesis - emulation and processing of echo signals (Forth, Pascal+Assembler x86). Software has been used for checking the chambers.

In 1994 founded the group "Realm Of Illusion" under which name some demomaking projects were realized (intros, diskmags, demo party reports).

Since 1995 till 1997 organizing ENLiGHT demo party - all-union (Russia and ex-USSR) annual computer art/programming festival (chief of an organizing committee).

Since 1996 till 1997 - web designer in RCom ISP company.

Have carried several Internet projects - Wandering Camera, IB/NEWS, Palm FAQ, Demo.Design FAQ, etc. On this basis - exploring of IT.

Fidonet and Internet communities. Have been moderated several FidoNet echo conferences (SPB.GENERAL, DEMO.DESIGN, SPB.STUDENT, SPB.INTERNET, RU.HACKER, SPB.PALMPILOT, SPB.EXCHANGE, RU.MODERATOR).

Since 1997 till 2000 was studying in BSTU (Baltic State Technical University "Voenmeh") on N10 chair. Candidate's exams were passed by speciality 05.13.13 (Computers, systems and networks). No dissertation has been written (only articles).

Was exploring problems and issues concerning distributed and portable operating systems (including architectures of non-traditional OS, computers, microprocessors and languages). Several articles on this subject were also written.

Since 1998 till 1999 worked with Informational Analytic Centre of Administration of St.Petersburg and "Liniya Svyazi" ISP (web design, IT consulting).

Since 2003 working with "Adriver" (programming, target setting).

Since 2004 till 2008 organizing Chaos Constructions computer festival (successor of ENLiGHT demo party) - all-union (Russia and ex-USSR) annual computer art/IT/security/programming festival (chief of an organizing committee).

Devoting considerable time studying social sciences.

Learning to fly (40+ hours) and to dance an Argentine tango (about 1 year)

6-12 years experience designing and maintaining Web sites/pages and web programming;
HTML, CSS, XML, WAP/WML/WMLScript, XHTML-MP/WAP-CSS/CCPP etc.;
Experience with JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Actionscript/Flex;
Experience with multimedia computer applications, including Photoshop (+plugins), Adobe Illustrator, FreeHand, CorelDraw, Adobe Premier, Shockwave Flash, Caligari TrueSpace, GIF Animator;
Internet applications: NN/MSIE/Lynx, FrontPage, OutLook, mIRC, ICQ, FTP, Telnet, etc..

Project management (web development, organizing events).

Knowledge of computer operating systems and environments, including DOS, Windows 3.x-95/98/2000/XP, NewtonOS/PalmOS/WM, some Unix (elementary).

Various communication software (FTN/Internet/LAN), Office software

Also experience with system programming (x86/65xx assemblers, Pascal, Forth, Delphi, some C)

Knowledge architecture of computers (including non-PC), microprocessors and various operating systems internals.

Technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills in computer installation and setup, as well as hardware and components.

Russian (native), technical English.

Effectively utilized and implemented the Internet as a research and communications tool (really :).
